Color Crush: Camel

camel this is glamorous

One of my favorite colors, particularly in the fall and winter months is camel. It is classic, timeless, and goes with just about anything. There is a reason it  has never gone out of style. You can take camel in just about any direction from preppy or ladylike to bohemian or modern. As I was working on an inspiration board yesterday, I noticed how many images I had included featured camel in one way or another. While I have seen and worn camel virtually my entire life, it somehow feels completely fresh to me again, just as all the best things do.

Color Crush: White Out

{A Classic White House by Andrew Skurman}
As much as I adore color, I find contrast to be of equal if not greater importance in both design and fashion. Lately, I have been all about paring things down, doing away with the fuss, and keeping things as classic and chic as possible. What better way is there to achieve this than with the purest of hues, especially with summer just around the corner. My current color crush is white! I am all about a total white out in interiors and fashion. While I don’t think I would ever want to design a home completely void of color, there are ways to make the look completely warm and inviting as opposed to cold and sterile.

Color Crush: Glorious Green

{Michelle Nussbaumer’s Room at the Maison de Luxe at Greystone Mansion in 2011}
While I was majorly crushing on various shades of blue in the fall, it seems that this season, I can’t get enough of green. It’s a glorious color with so many beautiful shades from emerald and kelly green to moss and olive, it’s can go masculine or feminine, modern or traditional.

Color Crush: Think Pink

pink doors2

{A Pink Door in Paris}

Seeing as how October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it only seems right that this month’s “Color Crush” would be pink. I’ve always been a fan of pink, particularly in its brighter incarnations. I think some people mistakenly believe that pink is girly and meek, but quite the opposite is true. While pink can be feminine and ethereal, it is also a very powerful color. It takes moxie to wear pink or to commit to a pink sofa, pink walls, or a bright pink front door as seen above. You’ll notice in my round-up below that pink works in just about any space in various applications and it looks just as fabulous whether you’re dressed for day or evening. Are you a fan of pink? Admittedly, it isn’t a color that I wear very often, but I do have quite a few pops of pink throughout my home. This month, I challenge you to “Think Pink”!

Think Pink La Dolce Vita

Color Crush: Turquoise

Color Crush: Turquoise via La Dolce Vita | {Rich Shades of Turquoise at Francois Gilles Moroccan Home via House of Turquoise}
Most variations of blue and green are beautiful, primarily because they are derived from nature. It’s easy to compare a shade of blue to the sky or the sea. Turquoise is particularly beautiful because it essentially marries blue and green, resulting in a spectrum of hues that range from pale and complementary to rich and bold. I like multiple shades of turquoise, though I am most attracted to the saturated versions as well as to the pure color of beautiful turquoise stones. As I thought about this post, I spotted a few turquoise accents throughout my house, though admittedly, it’s not a color that I often use in interiors. I do however, have a big penchant for turquoise jewelry and any time I am choosing between semi-precious stones, I almost always go for turquoise. I can’t help myself! After all it is a versatile, flattering, and fun color to wear. Are you a big fan of turquoise?
