Nate Berkus’s and Jeremiah Brent’s New Home in New York

This week, Architectural Digest published a story on Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent’s newest home, a 3,400 square foot townhouse in New York dating back to 1899. Over the years, many of Nate’s homes and later on, the homes he has shared with his husband, Jeremiah have all been published. Lucky for us, they seem to move fairly often, something they address in this particular story. This house has all of the hallmarks of Nate and Jeremiah’s signature style. The palette is neutral with a good deal of contrast and there are many interesting textures and details throughout. Since the couple downsized significantly from their former home in the Hancock Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, they had to significantly edit down their belongings into this newest distillation of their home. I always love seeing this beautiful couple’s homes. It’s fascinating to see how two designers can create a home so harmoniously while honoring each person’s point of view. This home, like the others before, feels serene, layered, and interesting. It is a true master class in being true to one’s personal aesthetic (French moderne mixed with organic materials) and on the importance of collecting and then editing.
