Hello wonderful LDV readers! Nancy here, thankful to have this chance to catch up with all of you. Even in these strange and tough times, where it’s sometimes hard to justify things some may see a frivolous, I think it’s important for us to share a slice of beauty and comfort in our lives. We are all gathering in our homes, and no matter whether you are alone, or with 1, 2 or even 5 other people in your home – it’s important to keep a sense of normalcy in the little things that we can. Easter will soon be upon us, and although I wish I could invite several guests to brunch, I’m still determined to set a nice table even if just for the 4 of us. I always turn to Aerin for tabletop inspiration, and lucky us, as we have her new publication ‘Entertaining Beautifully,‘ published by Rizzoli to look forward to this fall:
Let’s look at 3 key elements that Aerin utilizes to create beautiful tabletop settings for everyday or for an extra special occasion.
BAMBOO, RATTAN, & RAFIA
I adore Aerin’s use of bamboo flatware, woven place mats, and rattan vases
for flowers. It’s effortless yet chic, and when paired with delicate crisp white monogrammed napkins it still evokes a sense of celebration. The use of bright colored tableclothes adds such a cheery spring feeling!
JEWEL TONES WITH SILVERWARE
For a little extra panache, why not pull out all the stops with your silverware and an abundance of fresh blooms? Perhaps even from your own garden! I think my favorite detail here is how well the deep saturated jewel tones of these flowers play off the sparkle of the silver accents.
MIXING FLOWERS & FLORAL PATTERNS
Again, Aerin uses an abundance of flowers, and the crisp white scalloped napkins are a consistent classic detail at each setting. In these examples I love the combination of flowers with floral patterns on the tablecloths. Add in a floral dress and I am in heaven! And what a lovely touch to use objects like shells or coral that you may already have in your decor at home.
Each example is so lovely! You can find many of Aerin’s tabletop goods you see above on her website
. Will you be planning to set an Easter table this year? Even amidst the chaos, small comforts of home can do a great deal to ground us and keep us looking forward. Wishing you safety and above all health,
