In the Mood: July 2018

July has always felt like the pinnacle of summer. The heat is in full swing, everyone is going on vacation, and the Fourth of July marks America’s birthday. July 1st is also our wedding anniversary. Fabian and I just celebrated our thirteenth anniversary yesterday. We kept it low key, but will celebrate while at Round Hill in Jamaica very soon. I have always loved summer and while it isn’t as firmly defined as it once was during my days as a student, I still love the idea of summer adventures, long days, travel, and taking a dip in the pool or the ocean. This month’s mood is all about a relaxed sensibility, blue and white stripes, white linen, tan leather, straw, and sun-kissed skin.

  1. We just left Round Hill 20 mins agO after a lovelY stay. Enjoy your visit!

A few Tips: We recommend signing up for ClUB Mobay to speed yOur arrival process at the airport and get a fast Track tHrough the lines.

If you go on the Round Hill villa Tour, try to find out when villas 17 and 20 are free and time your tour then. They are full of Ralph Lauren Goodness!

      1. Hi Paloma,

I thought of one other thing to mention. While Jamaica has tremendous natural beauty (some of our favorites are Dunns River Falls, Negril, Blue Hole, Mayfield falls), none of these destinations are particularly close to Round Hill, or cost effective to get to during a short stay. Even scotchies restaurant which is a fun local place is 40 mins away from the hotel, so to us–not worth the drive/cost. Even our past trip to the Houseboat restaurant had us wanting to get back to round hill, which we feel serves the best food around.

I believe you mentioned that you were more interested in a relaxing stay, so Unless you are absolutely itching to get out, you might find it worth it to stay on the property to soak up the experience that round hill offers.

So visit the spa and gym, go on that tour and Make sure to peak into their bar and even the bar/ dining room bathroom to see all the pictures on the wall of past guests, some of whom you’ll recognize. It’s a warm and wonderful hotel with understated elegance. You come for a the facilities but come back because of their warm, personal service.

        Have a great trip.

        Heather

        1. Hi Heather,

This is such valuable feedback! We usually love to explore any destination we visit, but we booked this trip with the idea of hanging out in our villa without any kind of agenda for a long weekend. It’s reassuring to hear that venturing out wouldn’t make much sense on a short trip and that the food at Round hill is great. That was our major concern about staying on property for the majority of our stay since we’re both foodies! I have no doubt we will fall in love with Jamaica and will want to return for a longer stay next time.

          Cheers,

          Paloma

  2. I think Ralph Lauren’s home in Jamaica will be haunting me forever. I can’t get enough of blue and that house is just dreamy!
