Revisiting a Very Chic House

A few years ago, I came across the stunning home of Emma Jane Pilkington which was featured in the June 2015 issue of ELLE DECOR and just the other evening while at the ELLE DECOR A-List part in New York, I met Emma for the first time. She could not have been lovelier and her lovely home came to mind once again, so I thought it might be fun to revisit it today.

Located in Greenwich, Connecticut, the house has a distinctly European pastoral feel. If I hadn’t read the article, I never would have guessed this home was stateside. I particularly love the sitting room for its informal elegance and open concept. The modern, floor to ceiling built-in bookcases and striking art over the mantle provide quite an interesting contrast to the feminine 19th-century crystal chandeliers and the 18th century Swedish dining table and chairs. The crisp white room lends itself beautifully to the various textures, patinas, and colors that fill the lively space.

The airy light that permeates the room evokes thoughts of a perfect summer weekend, does it not? Imagine catching up on your favorite magazines on the sumptuous moss green, velvet sofa during the day and then gathering around the piano with friends after dinner in the evening? It sounds perfectly glamorous and inspiring to me. While I adore the sitting room, the entire home is elegant, timeless, and inspiring.

Have a wonderful weekend!
