LDV Favorites: Must-Have Candles

{One of my Favorite Candles, Giambattista Valli’s “Positano” for Ciré Trudon}

I absolutely love home fragrance. We usually burn a candle throughout the day in our office and one of my favorite things to do in the evenings is to unwind with a beautiful candle burning atop my coffee table. I’ll often have two different candles going in different areas of the house for a layered effect. It’s always interesting to see how different scents complement one another. I find it quite glamorous to have a signature fragrance for oneself in terms of a perfume, as well as a signature fragrance at home because scent, like lighting, can help to set the tone or mood in one’s space. I like a mix of fragrances that range from bright and floral with scents of rose, orange blossom, and jasmine to more masculine scents like vetiver, sandalwood, oak and cedar. It just depends on my mood!

I have my tried and true favorites that I stock up on, but every now and then I’ll come across a new fragrance that I fall in love with and add to my repertoire. The most recent addition is “La Rose Aime La Menthe” by Carriere Freres, a wonderful French perfumer that dates back to 1884. The name of this fragrance means “rose loves mint” and I happen to love the combination! It is a fresh combination of Damascus rose and spearmint which smells divine! I have been burning non-stop lately. Below, you’ll find a few more of my must-have home fragrances in candle form.

  1. Hi Paloma,
Where did you get the carriere freres candle? I cannot seem to find it anywhere…on their website, it doesn’t look like they ship to the US? The combination of rose and spearmint is really ‘up my alley’….I would love to order one!
    Thanks,
    Carolyn

    1. Hi Carolyn,

I’ve reached out to my contact who sent me a special advance candle and she says BeautyHabit.com out of Los Angeles will have the rose and spearmint candles ready to ship in two weeks. It is a brand new scent and the candles are currently en route from Paris. The scent is worth the wait– beautifully intoxicating!

      Cheers,

      Paloma

  2. Thank you for the purchasing information. I love the combination of rose and spearmint too. I will be asking for this for Mother’s Day ?

  3. Paloma,

Thank you for the wonderful glimpses of interiors, designers, vignettes, beautiful candles and all of the topics that you cover on your blog. It really helps us stay in touch with the beauty of home, people and products currently happening.
My question is about the knobs on the beautiful light grey cupboards…do you know what company supplied them?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Alice,

Thanks for the kind words. I am so glad to know that you enjoy the topics I cover here.

If you are referring to the cupboards in the photo in this post, I bought them from Rejuvenation. They are their Ball Cabinet Knob in Polished Nickel.

      Cheers,

      Paloma
