Roman and Williams Guild

I spent a lightning quick twenty hours in New York between Sunday and Monday. I had to fly in for a quick work meeting that had to be conducted in person. Always one to make the most of my time somewhere, I made sure to stop by Roman and Williams’ RW Guild in Soho, just down the street from my hotel before I headed to the airport. The very Instagrammable lifestyle destination is the brainchild of partners in life and in business, Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, the founders of Roman and Williams who have completed a number of A-List residential projects as well as many hospitality projects including the Hotel Emma in San Antonio, the Ace Hotel in New York, Freehand Chicago, and the Goop pop-ups in New York and Brentwood. Standefer and Alesch sought to create a destination that tells their story as designers and showcases beautiful pieces designed by independent artisans as well as antiques and found objects. RW Guild includes a home design shop, a restaurant and bakery called La Mercerie Cafe, and Emily Thompson Flowers, a boutique florist. The beautiful space is dressed in various hues of gray and blue, punctuated by brass light fixtures and blooming Cherry Blossom branches. Every corner is beautifully designed and the shop is filled with unique and interesting finds. I only wish I had had more time to really shop and linger over coffee and a croissant. Next time!
