In the Mood: February 2018

Lately, I have found myself craving color! While I love the look of a crisp, neutral room, I have been finding myself super drawn to rich jewel tones lately. It could be a case of the winter doldrums, the influence of the sublime Valentino Haute Couture collection that was shown in Paris last week, or a desire to shake things up!  I presume it is a combination of all of these factors. I am lucky that I don’t have one specific look as it allows me to flex my design muscles in order to execute a variety of looks for my clients, all of which are executed in my modern-meets-traditional style.

Currently, that means a cozy, English-inspired house for our client in Greenwich, Connecticut; a modern and sophisticated new construction Chicago condo in a high-contrast palette of black and white, a glamorous, jewel-toned fantasy in Los Angeles, and a variety of local projects that fall somewhere in between. As a result, I am always inspired and am rarely bored with my work– a true gift! This month’s mood is all about the love of color– bright, beautiful, saturated hues in both classic and unusual and inspiring combinations. By the way, I noticed that all of the interior designers whose work I featured in this post live in New York. New York designers are incredibly adept with color, perhaps because it is the antidote to the gray concrete and glass that surrounds them? Food for thought, perhaps.
