Masculine Chic and a modern Mix

The November issue of ELLE DECOR features the chic apartment of composer, Jonathan Scheffer. Designed by the great Robert Couturier, the apartment is housed in the legendary Apthorp building, built in 1908 by the Astors. The home is tailored, masculine, and beautifully-layered with a fantastic assortment of striking art and textiles. I especially love the living room pictured above with the chic, armless sofa and stacks of books which draw the eye up to the spectacular, original plaster moldings. What do you like most about this apartment?

  1. What a stunning apartment! I really love the soaring ceilings and fabulous mill work! This could have become overly formal and stuffy but the rooms are warm, eclectic and inviting. I think my favorite room would also be the living room.
