PCD Friday Favorites 04 28

Happy Friday! I’ve been keeping an even more hectic pace than usual lately. As of last week, I have work planned for each of the next four weeks. In between, I’ve been taking care of clients with a great deal of help from my amazing team along with writing the blog and my book. After working through last weekend in High Point, I am thankful to be home this weekend.

Design: One Kings Lane just showcased a really cool tutorial for upholstering walls in a powder room. I am not a huge proponent of DIY, and think it is usually a recipe for disaster, but I do love the look of upholstered walls. I must say, they made it seem pretty effortless. I am great at designing things and seeing the vision clearly, but when it comes to making or doing things with my own two hands, I often fall short!

Style: One of my favorite events of the year is just around the corner! The Met Gala is on Monday. This year’s theme is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” and is centered on the famed Japanese designer’s 40 year career trajectory.

Watch: On my way to New York last week, I finally got around to watching La La Land on the plane. I was a little dubious because I’d heard mixed reviews and don’t typically love musicals, but I fell in love with it! The music is fantastic, the set design is beautiful, and the story is so endearing. There is something innocent, wistful, and extremely touching about this film. La La Land was released On Demand and on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. I can’t wait to watch it again!

Career: As you surely know by now, Jenna Lyons has parted ways with J.Crew. I recently stumbled upon this video she filmed for Harvard Business School in which she discusses her leadership style and found it extremely inspiring.

Eat: Between work and travel, it can be difficult to find the time to cook as much as I would like, so I found this great article, “Too Busy to Cook? These are the Healthiest Takeout Orders” to be super helpful.

Shop: I have yet to tire of pretty, feminine tops! They make everyday feel festive. These are just a few of my current favorites: Johanna Ortiz | Ruffle One-Shoulder Top | Checked Navy Modern Vintage Top

Paloma Signature
