Gwyneth Paltrow’s New York Apartment

GOOP GP APT1

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of a handful of celebrities whose style I have admired for years and years. She recently relocated to Brentwood in the Los Angeles area full-time and has put her Roman and Williams-designed New York apartment on the market. With the family living exclusively on the West Coast now, Gwyneth has finally shared photos of her New York space.

Gwyneth aimed to create a “romantic, playful vibe” executed through a light, pale palette. What the space lacks in color it makes up for in sumptuous textures– the thickest marble island I’ve ever seen, painted wood floors, hand-painted silk wallpaper, and rich velvet. While Roman and Williams (who also designed the New York Goop Market Pop-Up) are known for their dark, layered spaces filled with unique and unusual details, they were up for the challenge of creating something similar, but on the opposite side of the color spectrum for Gwyneth. I can definitely see how the apartment would feel like a serene respite from the pulse of New York and demands of celebrity life. That being said, I don’t know that I could live in a space with such a cool, pale palette. What are your thoughts? Do you like the pared back elegance of Gwyneth’s New York apartment?

  1. I agree with Beth Anne. Feels like a hotel. The kitchen is amazing, but, does she cook, or does she just eat raw food, or did I confuse my celebrity food trends?
I do admire her for having maintained her privacy. Maybe that’s why the photos seem like a hotel–she removed everything personal.
