LDV Loves: La Fiorentina

{My Bed featuring a Pair of La Fiorentina Pillows}

One of my all-time favorite fabric patterns is La Fiorentina by David Hicks (one of my greatest design influences). I have had an ongoing love affair with this pattern for years and surprisingly, I have never tired of it. While graphic and modern, it is an absolutely classic print that will never go out of style. I love all of the colorways, but my hands-down favorite is the Ivory / Bark combination. It is such a smart, crisp pattern that looks fabulous in both large and small doses. It complements so many styles of décor which is why I have used it in my home as well as in a couple of client projects. In fact, I recently designed a little boy’s room around La Fiorentina. The walls are Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue and we had roman shades, a long bolster for the bed, and a very cool chair custom made in the brown and white La Fiorentina. The finished space is absolutely fabulous. I can’t wait to share photos with you. In the meantime, I will leave you with some beautiful spaces that incorporate this timeless pattern in a variety of ways. For a pattern that has been around for fifty years, La Fiorentina has proven to have serious staying power!

  1. I really love this print as well. I have never seen it before, but it is sooo beautiful. A really unique, great design. I can see why it looks great wherever it is used. I really, really love crisp patterns using one color on lots of white, and this fabric is the epitome of how beautiful that look can be. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. I, too, would never tire of seeing it. Such a great design.
