Sunny Disposition

Sunny Disposition | La Dolce Vita

It has really started to warm up in Houston lately, which of course, has me thinking about summer. Naturally, when I spotted this great house in Florida in the May issue of Canadian House & Home, it completely suited my current mood! Located in Windsor, Florida, a luxury community created by Canadian grocery moguls, the house features Moorish influences and a floor plan that is far from being cookie cutter. The homeowners did not want their home to look like a traditional Florida house, so they enlisted the help of Courtney Whatley and Ashley Waddell of Olivia O’Bryan Design to turn their vision into a reality. In order to fully take advantage of the great vistas and indoor/outdoor lifestyle, the bedrooms are all located on the first floor, while the common areas are located on the second floor. The house is chic and polished, yet it feels effortless and relaxed. This home is a great example of stylish, modern beach living.

{The Welcoming Entrance}

{I love the crisp white ceiling and walls, as well as the whitewashed floors, which are perfect for the beach.}

{The living room is chic, modern, and features a great mix of traditional and modern pieces.}

{Vintage African Baskets Line a Wall in the Den}

{Notice the Fantastic Ceiling Treatment in the Kitchen and Den}

{You can never go wrong with a classic Tulip table and banquette in a breakfast nook!}

{The pool and terrace are located just beyond the master bedroom. How lovely would it be to wake up to this each day?}

{The View from the Master Bedroom}

{I love the Moroccan shape of the headboard in the master bedroom.}

{You’ll notice the home is mostly dressed in neutrals with a few unexpected colors, likely drawn from the color of the sunset, used throughout to punctuate each space.}

{The couple’s 22 year old daughter’s room features a hand-embossed brass bed, modern lighting, and a few classic mid-century pieces.}
