Fabian and I have decided to put our house on the market soon and move on to a new project. We have loved living in our home all these years, but I would like to move a bit closer in to all of my work resources and clients and I have been craving a new project of my own. I love traditional houses, but for some reason, I can’t seem to stop thinking about the idea of a modern house. Perhaps because it is a complete departure from my current house? Sometimes, the issue with having eclectic taste and appreciating so many different styles is that it can make it difficult to pin down what I want to do for myself. Clients are a piece of cake, but it is much more challenging to narrow down the options for myself. In addition to loving the look of mid-century and 1970s contemporary houses lately, I am also obsessed with everything that Gucci has done recently. I love the classic, 1970s American vibe that feels slightly bohemian and completely modern. It is a perfect example of why the classics never go out of style. Can’t you picture Jacquelyn Onassis in any of the outfits in this Gucci editorial from French Vogue? What are you currently in the mood for?

{Gucci is having a very big moment. Lately, their collection has embodied the classic, effortless glamour of the house in the 1970s which is reflected in this great French Vogue editorial I first saw on my friend, Mark Sikes’ blog.}

Trousdale Ellen

{Trousdale Estates is a glamorous little neighborhood nestled in the hills on the edge of Beverly Hills. It is home to a treasure trove of mid-century modern homes by some of Los Angeles’ greatest architects including Wallace Neff, Paul R. Williams, A. Quincy Jones, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Its location and covetable architecture make it a magnet for celebrities ranging from Frank Sinatra to Jennifer Aniston. The Howard Levitt-designed home pictured above once belonged to Kelly Wearstler as well as Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi.}

  1. Paloma, I’m beyond excited for you! I would love to transition from traditional to contemporary myself but we’re staying put. If you’re interested in a true mid-century (MCM) Robert Searcy is one of the go-to realtors in Houston for that genre. Look forward to following your journey!
