In the Mood: August 2015

leopard skirt

The other day, I came upon this ultra-chic outfit. I love the leopard skirt and the fact that the rest of the outfit is completely minimal– black, sleek, and allows the skirt to steal the show. I was in New York a couple of weeks ago and while shopping, I found myself drawn to jackets and sweaters for Fall. I promptly had to remind myself that it has been 100 degrees in Houston nearly everyday and I won’t get to wear Fall clothes anytime soon! In fact, I have been in Las Vegas the last couple of days, where it is sweltering hot as well, but a girl can dream and plan ahead, non?

As August brings the summer to a close, I can’t help but think about the things I’d like to wear in the coming season. Feeling super inspired by the leopard skirt, I have been drawn to interiors and ensembles with a touch of this timeless print. We’ve all heard the old adage about leopard being a neutral and it truly is. I happen to like it in small doses, whether I’m using it in a room or in my wardrobe. I find that it has a stronger impact that way. It works beautifully with most color palettes from dark and saturated to those with light, crisp neutrals. It also lends itself to every style whether masculine or feminine, traditional or modern. This month’s mood is all about remixing classic, timeless things with a little bit of an edge and in today’s case, a bit of leopard. Are you a fan of leopard? It seems people either love it or hate it. Do you embrace it in both your home and wardrobe?

  1. Adore leopard in fashion, but don’t much use it for home. I have a long leopard coat that is Just.To.Die.

Btw, that pic w/ the white jeans and the “great sandals” — I am positively dying to know who made those dang sandals – they are SO flippin’ cool! Any clue from the source?
