Style Profile: Matthew Carter Interiors

Matthew Carter Living Stripes

Over the weekend, I stumbled on the website for Matthew Carter Interiors. It’s a rare treat to come across a designer whose work I am not familiar with at all– especially when his work is as chic and beautiful as Matthew’s. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, Matthew founded his firm back in 2002 and has since completed projects across the U.S. from Connecticut to California as well as in Lyford Cay in the Bahamas. Each space Matthew designs is rooted in a more traditional style, executed with a modern touch and incredible attention to detail. I am particularly in love with his fabric selections as well as the beautiful color palettes he creates. The spaces are exquisite, yet they look completely cozy and inviting, which is no small feat. I hope to see more from the talented Matthew Carter in the future. Enjoy!

  1. Matt Carter’s work is simply wonderful. I know his work well and had the opportunity to tour his lovely home. I was excited to see my Noh Print in one of his spaces. My mother developed a collection of Japanese prints when she was a Professor at Mills College, they were central to her decor and I treasure them. I truly enjoyed your well-developed post.
