Fabulous Room Friday 03.06.15

Domino Patrick Mele

Have you read the new issue of Domino yet? It is so good! There were quite a few features that I really enjoyed, but my favorite is the Connecticut home Patrick Mele designed for his parents. I particularly LOVE their dining room. I love the graphic black and white palette juxtaposed against the natural wood stain of the dining table and chairs along with the patina of the antique chandelier. The tension these pieces create next to the the fantastic patent leather and geometric upholstery on the chairs is fantastic. While blue and white certainly has its devotees, I am an even bigger fan of black and white. No other color combination is as pure, striking, chic, or timeless and this fabulous dining room is a perfect example of why. Bravo, Patrick! Please excuse my iPhone photos. The room was too good not to share!

Houston friends–don’t miss the 80th Annual Azalea Trail this weekend! The Azalea Trail takes place beginning today, March 6 through Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the cost of a $20 ticket ($15 before March 1), trail blazers will see four breathtaking private homes and gardens and two noteworthy public homes and gardens: Rienzi and Bayou Bend. As a bonus, admission is free to the historic Forum of Civics Building, home to ROGC, and its formal gardens where visitors can “Ask the Experts” for gardening advice. Azalea Trail offers visitors an enjoyable weekend with opportunities to see fabulous floral designs by River Oaks Garden Club members, beautiful interiors, amazing architecture, and stunning landscapes. Proceeds from Azalea Trail help fund River Oaks Garden Club’s mission: to restore, improve and protect the quality of Houston’s environment through education, conservation and civic improvement. What started 80 years ago as a means to educate the people of Houston has now become the heralding symbol for spring. Have a wonderful weekend!
