Fabulous Room Friday 01.30.15

Happy Friday! A cold front moved through this morning, but I am still dreaming of warm, sunny places after yesterday’s “Chasing the Sun” post! Naturally, this lovely kitchen by J.K. Kling Associates spoke to me in my current state of mind. The room is crisp, fresh, classic, and a little beach thanks to the mix of materials that bring to mind British Colonial/Caribbean style. Warm, dark woods pair beautifully with crisp white millwork, marble countertops, and backsplash while the finish of the wooden beams on the ceiling and the furniture lend a casual ease to the space. In the breakfast room, I love the pairing of a classically modern Saarinen Tulip Table with woven bistro-style chairs, and a very tailored curved banquette. The abstract art and blue batik pillows and fabric on the counter stools add the perfect hint of color.
