Country Chic: A Beautiful Ojai Home

My design wish for 2015 is for everyone to embrace classic, timeless, beautiful things. I know that not everyone has the same taste and if we did, it would make for a very boring world. However, I’d love to see people move away from trends and “loud” rooms that read more like furniture showrooms than personal domaines. More than anything, buy what you love and decorate with things that have special meaning to you, regardless of what is considered de rigeur or what Pantone has declared as the color of the year– I’ll have to pass on marsala, thank you very much.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Brooke Giannetti, a California-based decorator and shop owner, as well as the blogger behind Velvet & Linen. I’ve admired the beautiful work that she and her architect husband, Steve Giannetti create together and have followed along as they made their dream home, Patina Farm in Ojai come to fruition. Naturally, I was thrilled to see their beautiful home featured in the new issue of Veranda! It is truly beautiful and the kind of house just about anyone would dream of calling home. It is classic, timeless, beautiful, and is the embodiment of what is special and meaningful to the Giannetti family. You probably won’t be surprised to hear that I am not a country girl, but California Country? That, I can gladly do!

 {The dining room, like much of the home embodies the enviable California indoor/outdoor lifestyle.}

 {The pretty living room is dressed in neutrals and features an ingenious custom chinoiserie screen which conceals a television.}

 {The kitchen is so beautiful! I am instantly transported to the South of France or to the set of a Nancy Meyers movie!}

 {I love arranging flowers at home and for photoshoots. I dream of having a potting shed instead of arranging them in my kitchen.}

Thank you so much for your readership and support this year! 2014 has been a fantastic year and I know that 2015 will be even better. Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!

  1. The Giannettis have created a beautiful family home. It is so refreshing to see a home that is so elegant and, at the same time, so simple. That kind of style mixed with restraint takes real talent. Both Brooke and Steve deserve all the recognition they are receiving.
