Currently Obsessed: Casa Tua Miami

Lately, I have been dreaming of Casa Tua in Miami, a unique property that blends a small boutique hotel housing just five suites, a de rigeur restaurant, and members-only club into an impossibly chic setting in Miami. I originally learned about Casa Tua several years ago when I discovered the work of designer/architect Michele Bonan for the first time and devoured his portfolio. I’ve actually never been to Miami, but I feel like a visit to Casa Tua is reason enough to go. Typically, when I think of Miami, visions of art deco architecture, sleek interiors, and scantily clad people come to mind. Casa Tua is sort of the antithesis to that vision– set in a Mediterranea-revival villa dating to 1925 and designed with an air of effortless and inviting elegance.  There isn’t a single thing in these images of Casa Tua that isn’t completely classic and chic. Owner Miky Grendene says “This place is not about trend. It’s a showcase of lifestyle– the good life, with good taste, good food, good wine, good service. I want people to feel at home.” That is music to my ears and considering the fact that the name of the hotel means your house in Italian, I am not surprised to hear that Grendene’s philosophy is such. Casa Tua is all about living la dolce vita. What could be better than that?

  1. I have been to the restaurant 4 times. The owner, and his insanely gorgeous wife Leticia, are normally there in the evening. The venue is just beautiful. I was able to see the private bar upstairs. You will fall in love with the outdoor space. Oh…and the food is amazing as well.

Their spread in Town and Country was my first introduction to the property. T&C also showed their home in a Key Biscayne. Leticia’s style is so classic, even 11 years later the spread in T&C is still relevant. Go immediately

  2. This is gorgeous. It’s a little reminiscent to me of the JK Place in Capri. I love the choices of elegant pieces of furniture paired down in white to make the spaces feel easy and relaxed while retaining their class. Gorgeous choices!

  3. I have been fortunate to have many dinners
Here and stay several times. Miami is not all
Art Deco and people who are scantily clad people.
It has a very high Mizner & Volk homes.
Think Fisher Island where the residences’ have their
their own ferry to take them back and forth …
I lived there for year’s recently sold my place to go
    back to Palm Beach.

Thank you for this great article!

  4. I have stayed at Casa Tua many times. Miky is a very old friend of my husbands. My favorite room is the third photo, which has an enclave that is perfect for lounging. I also love the Hermès room. I can’t say enough about staying there–you are totally pampered. They will send you a lengthy questionnaire about your likes and dislikes for the room. For instance, do you prefer 100% linen sheets that are hand ironed or 100% cotton? I love the nightly plate of tiny Italian cookies they put in the room. I always buy loads of their signature candle when we are there. It is definitely a must if you are traveling to South Beach!
