This month, I am having a really hard time not thinking about fall! All I want is to wear a sweater. Luckily, a cold front came through yesterday and cooled things off a bit, but it will still be quite warm here in Houston for a few more months. Since I am thinking about cooler days to come, I can’t help but gravitate towards hues that echo the fall season– bordeaux, camel, and army green with lots of black, white, and crisp denim for good measure. For me, the next couple of months are about transitional dressing– pieces that work when it is sweltering hot one day and cooler the next. You’ll notice most of the pieces I am currently loving have a bit of a seventies slant, too. I love blazers and jackets because they are perfect from one season to the next, they are great for traveling, and they instantly make me feel more polished.
Since this is a Lust List after all, the pieces I can’t stop thinking about lately are these Valentino Rockstud Pumps in the perfect neutral color (I tried them on in Las Vegas and loved them after I’d resisted this popular style for so long since everyone has them. They work with everything, though!), this new J.Crew leather jacket in oxblood with gold hardware, and this super chic Saint Laurent cross body bucket bag in the most perfect shade of gray. What are you lusting after this month?
Nordstrom’s eagerly anticipated annual Anniversary Sale starts tomorrow! Nordstrom cardholders have early access to the sale, but it opens up to everyone tomorrow. Could this be where the term “Christmas in July” comes from? I’ve scoured the sale and have pulled together what I think are the best items in the sale. Nearly $700 off a chic Burberry leather Moto jacket? Yes, please! Tory Burch riding boots (the most comfortable boots I own) for a steal? Sign me up! More than $500 off a stylish Chloe handbag and nearly $200 off Rag and Bone Booties? There is no better time to buy! Seriously, if you’ve been thinking about purchasing some of these investment pieces, you can save hundreds by buying during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I have also included some more affordable picks like a great pair of strappy sandals for less than $70 and one of my go-to hostess gifts, an Antica Farmacista Fragrance Diffuser for more than $20 off the regular price! The sale is on until August 3rd, but if you see something you like, act fast because at these prices, everything is flying!
You may have heard that Tory Burch recently opened a new flagship store on the Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Tory is undoubtedly an arbiter of style and has built a massively successful and instantly recognizable brand. I have an inkling she will eventually expand into the home category. Her tabletop items, linens, and accessories have been a big hit and her homes and stores are absolutely beautiful, so it seems like a natural progression for someone with an iconic lifestyle brand.
The immensely talented, Daniel Romualdez has designed the interior architecture of each of Tory’s stores, including the new flagship in Paris, while the interiors have been a collaboration between Tory and Daniel. If you’ve been to any of her flagship stores, then you can probably appreciate how residential they feel. The Beverly Hills store in particular looks and feels like an ultra-chic townhouse, while each of the flagship stores seems to give a little nod to the decoration of Tory’s own homes. For the Paris store, Tory channeled Madeleine Castaing and and a traditional Parisian decorating aesthetic paired with her own signature style. The result is feminine, beautiful, and très chic, non?
While I only wear red from time to time and don’t have a stitch of it in my home’s decor, I have been seeing red lately! Known to symbolize love, passion, courage, success, and even rage, red certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. Perhaps it is because red is so inextricably linked with the Christmas season or because I have been feeling ultra-motivated lately, but like a moth to a flame, I can’t help but be drawn to this powerful color.
