Get the Look: Red Carpet Style for Daytime

Hello LDV readers, Valerie from chronicles of him & her back today with my second “Get the Look” post! If you remember, my post is about taking inspirational celebrity looks and providing us with ways to recreate them in our own closet.

Today’s post is all about award season. Whether it is the Grammys, Sag Awards, Golden Globes or Oscars, celebrities have been debuting amazing looks down the red carpets. While I don’t have many black-tie affairs on my calendar, I think we can still use the formal looks as inspiration for our daily lives…whether it is hair & make-up or the accessories & shoes. Here are a few of the looks on my radar…

Get the Look: Holiday Party Chic

Hello LDV readers! I’m Valerie from chronicles of him & her. As a new contributor, I’m so excited to share my first “Get the Look” post with all of you.  In this series I plan to take inspiring celebrity looks and provide us with some ways to re-create them in our own closets. With holiday parties on all of our minds, I can’t think of a better time to kick it off…

Today’s post is all about looking our best for formal office parties with colleagues or festive cocktail affairs with friends. When I was searching for inspiration I looked back at my recent pins & my stack of fashion magazines. Immediately I noticed a few things: sparkles, winter white or black on black & statement coats. Here are the outfits on my radar:

Perfect for a formal office party, this look is conservative so it won’t offend the boss but still on trend with winter white and statement accessories. Pull your hair out of your face with an easy chignon and you are ready to impress!

Get the Look: (Faux) Fur Throws and Blankets

Hi all! Arianna here, back with another Get the Look post!
I love the look of fur throws and blankets. They add texture and interest in a space and also help create a sense of coziness and warmth that is especially inviting during colder weather months.

When it comes to getting the look, faux is definitely the way to go. They are just as soft and luxurious as the real thing, are less expensive, and most importantly don’t require animals to be harmed for them to be made.
Do you have any faux fur throws or blankets in your own home? I have one in dark brown that I received as a gift awhile ago and everyone, including my pup, loves curling up in it. I’m considering getting another one that will work with our current decor. A few lovely options I’ve been eyeing:

Get the Look: Rachel Zoe-Inspired Decor and Fashion Picks

Snip20130815_193  It should come as no surprise that I love Rachel Zoe’s style. In fact, she is my current “Modern Style Icon” and I just blogged about her fabulous, unmistakable style earlier this week. While I was making my usual rounds on the internet yesterday, I came across the Dulce Modern Mid Century Furniture sale on HauteLook and I instantly thought of the gorgeous home interior designer and Nate Berkus’ fiance, Jeremiah Brent designed for Rachel, her husband Rodger, and their baby Skyler.
