Over the weekend, Fabian and I shopped for Christmas gifts for our nieces and nephew. We don’t have children of our own, so it can be a bit of a challenge to shop for little ones sometimes since we don’t always know what they are into. I’ll usually be sure to check in with family and friends to see what sizes their kids are currently wearing and what they are interested in at the moment. Having said that, I am usually driven by my love of a classic aesthetic for children and usually opt for things that are beautifully designed and meaningful. I love giving books that children will hopefully grow into and treasure for years to come and always find personalized items to be thoughtful and special. I hope this doesn’t make me the gift-giving equivalent of the person who gives out toothbrushes at Halloween! Since our child, Tate, is of the canine variety, I made sure to include pets in this gift guide as well. You’ll find a few stylish items for the sweet pets in your life here, too!
I used to think that men were harder to shop for than women because it seemed like there were fewer things to choose from for them. However, the tides have turned and after being with my husband for so long (married for 9 + years and together for nearly 14), I feel like I am really in tune with his style and interests at this point. It might be an issue if I weren’t! As time has passed, I have also refined my own eye as an editor and know exactly what I like, whether it’s for my own closet or for his, so I am really excited about this gift guide!
I literally want to buy every last item for Fabian. I get a lot of enjoyment out of finding the right gift for someone and I feel like I really got it right with this guide– at least for the men in my life, and hopefully for the ones in yours, too.
You’ll find lots of great options here for everyone from your husband or boyfriend, your brother, BFF, or even your dad. There are classic, sure-fire bets if you’re still getting to know each other– a timeless sweater, a classic button-down shirt, always-chic Ray-Ban Wayfarers, and a great Kiehl’s gift set for a great price (I got one for Fabian a couple of Christmases ago and he’s hooked on their products now); as well as picks for the guy who can rock a little man jewelry or the man who is constantly on the go and in need of cool gadgets.
I always have myself really enjoying the process of putting together these LDV Holiday Gift Guides because they are filled with things that I would actually buy, either for myself or for someone else! In our “For Her” gift guide, I’ve included stylish pieces that will endure well into the new year and for years to come. You’ll find items that could work just as well for your mother or boss as they would for your best friend, sister, or girlfriend. I’ve included items that would make fabulous gifts for someone you know quite well as well as versatile, slightly less specific options such as a classic stripe tee, chic desk calendar, or a tried and true candle. Which of these items will you ask Santa for this year?
One of the most wonderful things about the holidays is spending time with friends and family. With invitations for holiday cocktail parties, cookie exchanges, and overnight stays surely coming your way, you may be wondering what to get for your host. Whether you are spending a weekend at a friend’s home or attending a holiday party, I’ve pulled together a guide with perfect hostess gifts for just about any occasion.
Can you believe the holidays are just around the corner? You know what that means– it is time for our annual gift guides! Over the course of the next few weeks, I’ll bring you my curated gift guides filled with my personally selected gift selections for everyone on your list, so be sure to check in often.
I really don’t collect too many things, unless you count stacks upon stacks of beautiful books on design, fashion, travel, and style icons. I love reading my beloved books and turning to them for inspiration. A beautiful coffee table book is at the top of my list of favorite gifts to give and receive, so I thought it would be great to kick off this year’s “LDV Holiday Gift Guides” with a round-up of fabulous books! Naturally, a good portion of the list is made up of design books—I’ve chosen my favorite titles of the year from tastemakers like Michael S Smith, Carrier and Company, and Carolyne Roehm; along with new titles about style icons Oscar de la Renta, Parish-Hadley, and Diana Vreeland; and indispensable books from friends Lauren Liess and Eddie Ross. There are books for a variety of interests on this year’s list, so you’re sure to find something your loved ones will enjoy.
