Spanish Sophistication

Piso-Velazquez95749Many of my favorite designers happen to be Spanish. While each designer has his or her own perspective, in general, it seems that designers in Spain have a real knack for sophisticated eclecticism, bringing together pieces from different periods and varying places of provenance. In my opinion, one of the most inspiring and influential Spanish designers is Isabel Lopez Quesada. Her range spans urban spaces such as this chic apartment in the Salamanca neighborhood in Madrid to classically beautiful houses in the Spanish countryside. This particular flat features a great mix of furnishings– gilded antiques paired with mid-century pieces and a few carefully selected patterns. The resulting spaces are chic, urbane, and interesting. Which room is your favorite?

  1. simply wonderful! Not usually a fan of “modern” but you’re right, this is executed so well. The chinoiserie dining room is outstanding!
