I love finding and connecting with people whose style I admire on Instagram. A few months ago, I came across Shelley Johnstone‘s profile @shelleyjohnstonedesign and connected with her updated traditional aesthetic. The spaces she designs are beautiful and are usually filled with unexpected finishes and details that make them truly special. One such space, which coincidentally, I spotted on Instagram, is the trellis room at her home in Lake Forest, Illinois. Orange is Shelley’s favorite color, so she lacquered the ceiling in the vibrant hue, which really pops against the treillaged walls. A simple, armless orange velvet settee and a pair of Empire-style leather chairs, along with a Chinoiserie table and tole lantern round out the jewel box space. I am not certain where in the house the room is situated, but given that the stairs seem to be directly behind it and the dining room is just off of it, I would assume it would be near an entrance. The room certainly makes a wonderful impression!
I will be in High Point until Monday, so be sure to follow me on Instagram for glimpses into my favorite finds at Market! Have a wonderful weekend!
