If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that Fabian and I just returned from our trip to London and Paris. We had the most amazing time. It was truly one of our favorite trips ever and I plan to share more photos and details with you soon. One of the reasons our trip was so special was that we were invited to stay at the exquisite Peninsula Hotel in Paris. The various Peninsula properties throughout the world are regarded as some of the top hotels on a global level, so I was very excited to experience the essence of the Peninsula firsthand.

The Peninsula Paris is located on Avenue Kléber in the elegant 16th arrondissement, just steps away from the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe. With stunning views over Paris, this magnificent building opened in 1908 as a grand hotel with a storied history that includes George Gershwin penning his opus, “An American in Paris” while staying there in 1928, and Henry Kissinger bringing an end to the Vietnam War in 1973 with the signing of the Paris Peace Accords.

The recent renovation was completed by some of the finest craftsmen and artisans in France. The extraordinary attention to detail is evident at every turn.

The Peninsula is home to three wonderful restaurants– Le Lobby, Lili, and L’Oiseau Blanc as well as a the stunning Bar Kléber. The bar, pictured above, features Asian-inspired details, including two stunning indigo silk panels hand-painted with white peacocks and pagodas as a nod to Vietnam. This very space used to house the office in which the Paris Peace Accords were signed.

The rooftop restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc offers French fine dining and sweeping views of Paris. It has a great vantage point of the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc du Triomphe, and Sacre Couer in the distance. The restaurant is aviation themed since cars and aviation are the personal passions of the Peninsula’s owner. Hanging over the side of the building is a replica of the small plane, L’Oiseau Blanc, that Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli flew as they attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1927.

{Our dinner was one of the most memorable and special meals we have ever had. We had a view of the glittering Eiffel Tower from our table. The restaurant was perfectly lit and had a very intimate ambiance. The service was wonderfully attentive and everything we had on the chef’s tasting menu that evening was completely delicious.}

{The bed and bedding were very comfortable. Each room is also equipped with The Peninsula’s proprietary  interactive tablets and controls. They made for a completely seamless experience for everything from controlling the lights and thermostat to ordering room service.}

{One of my favorite things about our room was the lovely balcony overlooking the stunning Haussmann buildings nearby.}

I am so grateful for our wonderful stay at The Peninsula Paris. From the moment we checked in to the moment we departed, we were cared for so attentively. Special thanks to Alexandre who was so charming and lovely when we checked in; Lea for an outstanding tour of the property and a lovely lunch at Le Lobby; Maxim for driving us to the Picasso Museum in one of the house Mini Coopers; the gracious staff at L’Oiseau Blanc; and finally, the dear pageboys and bellmen who lined up, stood at attention, and warmly waved goodbye to us as we drove away from the hotel. It was a moment I will not soon forget.

If you are planning a trip to Paris in the future, I hope you’ll consider a stay at The Peninsula. The property is truly extraordinary and is conveniently located on the Avenue Kléber which is bookended by the Arc du Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. Steps from the Champs Elysées and surrounded by great shopping and restaurants, it is the ideal home away from home in Paris.

  1. Amazing. Now back in Houston, I lived in Paris from 2011-2013 just around the corner from the hotel. My son went to the orthodontist who was located right across the street. The construction went on for years and we wondered if it would ever reach completion. We are hoping to have a drink there on our next visit. Merci pour le partage!
