American Splendor in Napa Valley

Traina Napa Valley

Trevor Traina and Alexis Swanson Traina have style in spades. Their San Francisco home has appeared in ELLE DECOR and as Creative Director of Swanson Vineyards, the Napa Valley winery founded by her father, Alexis has created a magical brand and winery experience. The Trainas have deep family connections to Napa on both sides, so it is only fitting that they spend most weekends at their historic Oakville estate. The house was built in the 1860s by Napa Valley pioneer, H.W. Krabb, the founder of To Kalon Vineyards. In 1969, Trevor’s parents bought the house while the father of the modern Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi purchased the prime vineyards surrounding it. Trevor grew up spending a lot of time at the Oakville house while growing up, while Alexis’ family moved to Napa Valley from Florida in the 1980s. Now, a generation later, their own children are making their own memories in this storied house filled with antiques and treasures from Trevor’s family.

While the Trainas’s home in San Francisco is more modern and showcases their enviable collection of art, the Napa house is meant to be cozy and comfortable. The charming rooms, filled with chintz, wicker, and treillage are reminders of happy memories and special family members as much of the furniture once belonged to Trevor’s mother and grandmother. While the interior is lovely, the grounds are so beautiful and charming. I can certainly see why the Trainas spend as much time outdoors as possible! Who wouldn’t enjoy such a splendid view?
