Michelle Adams’ Timeless Renovation

Michelle Adams House Beautiful

Over the past year or so, I have gotten glimpses of my friend, Michelle Adams’ home renovation on Instagram. You probably know Michelle as the founder of Lonny and the former Editor-in-Chief of Domino. Not too long ago, Michelle decided to leave the hustle and bustle of New York for the peace and comfort of her home state of Michigan, where she now works as a consultant for various creative businesses. Wanting to put down roots, Michelle purchased a charming, old fixer-upper in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which would allow her to be closer to her family and live life at a more palatable pace than what years of working as a magazine editor in New York would demand. I certainly can’t blame her!

The house had good bones, but was in need of some big updates. Inspired by her favorite hotel, the JK Capri in Italy (thank you for introducing me to this stunning property years ago, Michelle!), Michelle sought to create a timeless environment. Rather than concern herself with trends, Michelle added thoughtful architecture to the home, laid a crisp foundation by painting most of the walls in Ralph Lauren’s beloved Tibetan Jasmine, and layered in accents  in various shades of blue. The home features an eclectic mix of old and new, traditional and modern, masculine and feminine with a vibe that is chic, yet relaxed. I love what you’ve done with the place, Michelle! To see the full before and after, be sure to check out the February issue of House Beautiful.
