Chic at Rosemary Beach

Just the other day, I was chatting with a client about her family’s summer plans and she mentioned their upcoming trip to Rosemary Beach. It seems like so many people I know love Northwest Florida, with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It doesn’t seem to hurt that beautiful communities like Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside, and Watercolor have so much to offer for families, including beautiful vacation homes, like this one designed by Melanie Turner Interiors.

You’ll notice every room is dressed almost exclusively in white, yet the home feels warm and inviting thanks to a variety of rich textures and a mix of metals and wood with depth and patina. The idea of an all-white house at the beach feels completely fresh and ideal for the surroundings. Have you visited Northwest Florida? Would you recommend it for a couple without children?

  1. My husband I have no children and we spent several weekends a year in Rosemary or Seaside when we lived in Birmingham, AL. It’s really lovely and easy to get around on bikes so you can ditch the car while you’re there. I would recommend going in September or October. It’s quite busy over the summer when school is out.

  2. I am going to Rosemary Beach in a few weeks, and this will be my third trip. It is a beautiful place, and it is perfect for anyone who loves the beach, good food, and cool architecture. Kids are optional!

  3. We toured this house in person a couple of summers ago when we were vacationing in Rosemary. It’s a stunner! I really appreciate Melanie’s work. We’ve been vacationing on 30A for several years now and for the past 2 years have been at Alys. It is an amazing place, and I know that you would find it endlessly inspiring and relaxing. For a couple without children, I would recommend going off season and staying at the Pearl in Rosemary, a carriage house in Rosemary, or a 1-bedroom in Alys. As an aside, we are planning a trip to Napa, and I’ve been using many of your recommendations! Thank you!

    • Thanks, Sara! I’m so glad my Napa recommendations have been helpful. We are going to Napa again in a few weeks for our 10th wedding anniversary. Let me know if you have any other questions. I love talking about Napa! XO

  4. I am a 30A devotee! My mom and I take a week long vacation to Rosemary Beach every summer. There is so much to admire in this area; the pristine beaches, the food, the charming architecture, the warm, welcoming people. You will not be disappointed! Take a look at Home Away. It’s the easiest way to “shop” rentals and all of the listings come with wonderful user reviews. My favorite restaurant is La Crema~ Tapas&Chocolate, and it is a must! I know with your love of Spain it will quickly become your favorite, too!

  5. Rosemary is our absolute favorite beach! We usually go twice a year. It’s a wonderful place for families. Excellent shops and restaurants abound. No need for a car. You can walk or bike anywhere. Don’t miss the farmer’s market, Charlie’s donut truck and George’s in Alys Beach (a must!).

  7. Paloma, thank you so much for showcasing this project! Your blogs are so wonderfully chic, and its such an honor to be featured in one of them.

This particular project is not the Coastal Living house, but we did all of the architectural finishes in that house (maybe that’s the similarities you’ve noticed).

No matter how far or how often I travel, I always feel like Dorothy….there’s no place like home! And the beach is my home sweet home. The Panhandle is the perfect peaceful place for family vacationing.
