A Gracious Houston Home

Houston House Tour via La Dolce Vita

I feel so lucky to work in an industry that is as encouraging and supportive as the world of interior design. I’ve had so many friends, fellow designers, and mentors who have been so incredibly wonderful to me, so I am always happy to support them in return whenever I can. Recently, my friend, Brendan Fontenot, a designer at Kevin Spearman Design (formerly known as Bellacasa Design in Houston) let me know that their firm had just completed a stunning home in The Woodlands, a suburb north of Houston. The architecture was designed by the immensely talented Bobby McAlpine of McAlpine Tankersley in Birmingham, Alabama. With such a top notch team in place, I knew I couldn’t miss seeing this home!

The house is a total breath of fresh air. It is not at all what most people would expect to find in a suburban setting, especially not in Houston. The house has a very unique floor plan and features the finest finishes throughout. The collaboration between these two talented teams resulted in exquisite architecture and beautiful design details throughout the timeless, elegant setting. I felt so inspired as I toured this wonderful home– beauty surrounded me everywhere I turned. I hope you enjoy touring this house as much as I did!

 {The Kitchen: All of the rooms in the home are very generously sized. The house is over 8,000 square feet, but the classic proportions make the home feel warm and inviting as opposed to cavernous. The casual, yet elegant kitchen and breakfast room were among my favorite spaces in the home.}

  1. What a beautiful home. I love a butler’s pantry and this on is amazing and the light fixture in the game room…fabulous. The entire home is warm, livable and inviting!

  2. This is awesome! Just moved to The Woodlands and was so excited to see that this house was local. It is just beautiful! Thanks for the information and pics.

  3. Hi Paloma:

Thank you for sharing this lovely home. I admire homes that are architecturally and stylistically cohesive and consistent from room to room. I have been a big fan of Bobby McAlpine for years! As you stated, his homes may be large in size, but they always feel “human” in scale.

I want to express that I am a fan of your blog and I read (and pin from) it every day. I have to limit the number of blogs I read because I could spend the whole day getting inspired! Thank you for the inspiration and information you share.

Keep and the good work…and many congratulations for the lovely cover and feature in Domino.

    Thank you,
    Scott

  4. too many small panes of glass make the rooms seem a lot darker than they actually are and of course cleaning them is also an big issue. otherwise nicely decked out.

  5. The best architects ever! Houston is so lucky to have them right there! Love the English style and those tall windows everywhere just make this home so stunning!

  6. I have long admired Kevin Spearman’s work beginning in the Bellacasa years. His aesthetic is so clean, classic, traditional and modern all at the same time. One of my favorite details he has used many times is the lacing detail on slipcovered ottomans. Thank you for a glimpse into this beautiful home!

  7. I am really motivated by your work. I love the clean lines, organized placement and colot choices in you designs.

I’m hoping you’ve worked on a space challenged, smaller condo and there are photos of your work I could see?

    Thank you,
    Manuel

  8. Love the “laundry room” – – that is an entire bedroom in Italy. I am from Houston, but live in Italy now and miss the space. Beautiful home and fab photos.

  9. Due to “blog overload” I have unsubscribed from most but yours is one of the few I kept for design inspiration. Can you source the dining room chairs?

    • Thank you, Mellie! I’m so glad to hear that LDV is a source of inspiration. The chairs are English antiques that were refinished and reupholstered. It’s a pretty common style that you may be able to hunt down locally. If not, Hickory Chair and Lee Industries carry similar reproductions. Good luck and thank you for your readership and support!

      XO,
      Paloma

  10. I’m a little disappointed that the black walls in the living room area weren’t opened to show the storage.
