Dissecting the Details: Studio McGee

Hello lovely LDV readers! Nancy of Marcus Design here, with another installment of Dissecting the Details. Today I am sharing the work of Studio McGee, a husband and wife team based in Salt Lake city. I’ve been drooling over their work via Instagram, and their kitchen designs in particular have caught my eye. Let’s examine 4 key features that Shea & Syd consistently utilize in these spaces:
There’s nothing I love more than an over-sized pair of pendants or a lantern. These show-stoppers are like the sparkling jewelry of a usually utilitarian room.
I love the texture that is added by the unique tile shapes Syd & Shea select. And even if just simple subway tile, carrying it to the ceiling adds a layer of interest to an otherwise bare and boring surface.

Nothing says crisp and clean like white. Even if they add little bits of pattern and soft muted color, the overall look is bright white without feeling clinical.

From Parisian bistro-style to vintage Chinese Chippendale chairs – the seating is stellar in each of the spaces above and it totally completes the kitchen design.
What fantastic inspiration! Now I’m itching to do a kitchen reno. To see more from Studio McGee, hop over to their extensive portfolio.
