Getting Graphic

I tend to describe my style as a modern take on traditional style– gravitating towards classic silhouettes and timeless pieces paired with a touch of glamour and an infusion of color, so it’s no surprise that lately, I haven’t been able to get enough of striking contrasts in terms of color and style– black and white; a gilt Louis chair paired with a mid-century chest as well as bold, graphic patterns. I recently started working on a new client project and am so excited that my client and I have such similar taste. The design concept I am creating for her is a little softer in nature than what you’ll see here, but much of the same elements will cross over– a mix of styles in regard to furniture, a neutral palette composed of mostly black, white, and grey with an occasional pop of color, and interesting, graphic patterns all done in a way that feels fresh, yet timeless.

How do you feel about graphic contrasts in interiors? Do you like neutral palettes, bold patterns, and the occasional touch of color or do you prefer to embrace color all over with pieces that are more similar in style and provenance?

  1. Love classic black & white! Black is so elegant and I am excited to have my stairwell painted with the black treads and rails next month, similar to your photo above. I love a little bit of black in every room in my house. I especially love the elegant bedroom at the top of your post. So elegant!
