Currently Obsessed: Only You Hotel Madrid

only you padrino
Lázaro Rosa Violán’s work is a beautiful blend of classic pieces composed with modern verve. The look is thoughtful and deliberate, yet each space resonates with an effortless nature. The layered spaces he designs are filled with eclectic pieces, bold patterns, rich colors, and art from a cross-section of periods, all composed with brilliant panache. Lázaro has been at the top of my list of favorite interior designers for several years now. His work inspires me beyond measure. I’ve blogged about him several times before and even had the chance to meet him when Fabian and I visited Barcelona a few summers ago. Lázaro was gracious enough to invite us for a visit to his ultra chic atelier which you’ve probably seen all over Pinterest as well as in the pages of AD España. What I admire most about his work is that it is all truly his. Every element in every space he works on is designed by Lázaro himself—every chair, every table, every light fixture or lamp, every piece of art. The man is a true artist. Over the weekend, I decided to look at his website for some inspiration and was elated to see that it had been updated with photos of recently completed projects including the Only You Hotel in Madrid.

Lázaro’s interiors are beautifully layered, with various styles blending together perfectly. The palettes he chooses are typically sophisticated and restrained, usually with one bold accent color. In the case of the Only You Hotel, the color of choice is navy blue, which I absolutely love! Throughout the hotel, housed in a 19th century mansion, navy blue is paired with crisp white and some chinoiserie accents. I have been craving another trip to Spain recently — it’s been nearly three years since our last visit and seeing these images is just amplifying my urge to book a ticket to Madrid right away!

  1. Living here in Madrid I know the hotel well, often popping in for dinner or drinks.Unfortunately, even though it has not been open long the public areas are already beginning to look shabby and worn!

Muchos besos 🙂

  3. While the hotel is quite stunning, I was more than disturbed by the rhino head above the fireplace. This is a highly endangered species and promoting an interior featuring one is quite frankly disgusting. Please remove those photos.

    • Hi Nohline,

Like yourself, I am a major animal lover and never thought for a second that the rhino head was real. I was under the impression that it was plaster or resin. I can’t imagine that they would use a real bust. I will see if I can find out more and truly appreciate your concern.

      Cheers,
      Paloma
