Season of Promises

Last year around this time, I helped organize a huge blogger initiative benefitting Pencils of Promise, a wonderful 501(c)(3) organization based in New York, that partners with local  communities and organizations to build schools of early-stage education in developing nations for some of the world’s most impoverished and undereducated children. Sadly, there are more than 75 million children in this terrible situation worldwide.

Since then, Pencils of Promise has made huge strides to help many, many children. In just two short years, they’ve been able to build 15 schools in some of the most under-served regions of the world. As a former teacher, I am passionate about education and strongly believe that it is the most powerful tool a person can have.

Everyone is entitled to spend their hard-earned money however they please. If you’re feeling like making an impact this holiday season, you can give a gift that gives back in more ways than you could ever imagine. Give the promise of an education and empower a child in need. If you’re hard-pressed to find the perfect gift for someone, the promise of just $10 per month is equivalent to one year of a child’s education through Pencils of Promise’s Season of Promises campaign. If you are unable to donate this year, learn how you can donate your voice and make a big difference.

  1. God bless your heart! This is very important and I’m glad you’ve mentioned.

I used to be a teacher in Brazil and I was blessed enough to work with some kids that really needed help. It was one of the most beautiful and remarkable moment of my life! If you ever meet a child that has almost nothing, you’ll see how much you can learn and how much LOVE you receive from them. Some of “my children” at school just went there to be able to eat the 1x meal a day that the school served. At the end of that year, we were able to help them see that the education they were getting was the only way to have a better opportunity in life, because we all, no matter how difficult our lives are, we all can change it thru education.
With this post we can help open doors to more children, to a better future.

Thank you for posting this today.
